A man named James Miller just called me and told me he was from the federal grants dept ID #ad107.

He told me I was approved for an $8,000 tax free never to pay back grant and was selected out of a big group of people across the state. But when he couldn't tell me my address and gave me the wrong area code I felt he was a scammer. He got upset with me and told me he was going to report me because I was going to report him. ( it was a little comical). Anyway is there any truth to this? I have received emails about the government wanting to help me. Please reply at yoursoonest convenience. Thank you

AB your instincts are totally correct, this is a total scam. It is happening all over the country.

Neither the government nor anyone else awards grants in this way or notifies people by phone. .There are several scams going on that operate exactly as you describe. Do NOT give them any money OR any personal information about yourself or your finances! You will lose the money and never see the "grant." It's just not real.
