I am desperately seeking help with major dental repair work. I do have some dental insurance but even after they pay I am still needing almost $1,000. My husband and I are recently retired, 6 months post bankruptcy, and worst of all my husband has/is dealing with several major health issues (including cancer); so I cannot work as I must meet his medical needs. I have had periodontal disease for almost 30 years and it has caught up with me. I am no longer able to put off this major dental work.

Can anyone help me?

I sympathize with your situation (periodontal disease recently caught up with me as well!). A few suggestions for finding some financial relief:

  1. Check with any dental schools in your area and see if they provide low-cost services for what you need. Their students get their practice treating patients, and it's under the supervision of their teachers.
  2. Do a search for “community dental clinics” along with the name of your city or county to see if they can point you to a low-income dentist.
  3. Last but not least, check out this article called I Need Help for creative ways to bring in some extra income.
