I have property with a house my dad built years ago with no power. I would like to raise cattle and maybe move there some day. I'm looking to see if there is funding available to help with the costs associated with getting electricity ran over a mile and starting up a small farm. Are there grants available to help with costs to get power to a cabin?

Well Duke I don't know of grants specifically for getting power to a cabin, but I do know there are grants to help farmers AND those wanting to get into farming! Our farmer population is aging and the government wants to encourage and help beginning farmers and ranchers. You'll find a nice summary and some details about different programs available in Grants for Farms. Be sure especiallly to note the paragraphs about the Farm Services Agency and the section called Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Loans.
