Is there a program that provides grants to non-profit groups to help clean up streams? Specifically, construction and installation of trash booms in streams can help in the collection and reduce the spread of floatable trash downstream.  We are looking for a grant to help fund the construction and/or purchase of trash booms. Furthermore we are looking for a means to finance the creation and distribution of educational materials to persons within the affected urban watershed.

Sounds like a great idea! I would start by contacting your state or going to their website to see what sort of grants might be available specifically for environmental causes. That is of course a very popular topic these days and your state like others probably has set aside funds to provide grants to organizations like yours with ideas and skills to make improvements. In addition see this article about Grants for Non-Profits for some tips on other places to look.
