$32,000,000.00 of educational funding went unused in the state of Utah last year. I am trying to obtain a Grant in Utah For Education Housing . I recently left an abusive relationship and lost my job doing what I have done my entire work career. I am aware of Grants. I'm just not sure How I apply. I have spent countless hours on the net with no results. I have gone to the board of education, The Federal Apprenticeship office, The county building, Vocational Rehabilitation, Colleges (Colleges offer loans not grants)and still have been left with so many unanswered questions. I want the opportunity most get when they come from middle class families or greater. I thought these funds were for those like myself who come from poverty and refuse to be a welfare recipient, and would rather work and earn an honest living . I want to support my family and be the head of household I once was before my injury . I wish I would have planned ahead and had a back up plan. However I can only work today to change tomorrow. Yesterday is gone . Please tell me these funds / Grants are existant and How I can get my chance to apply my self to be a role model and begin to be member of society?

How do I get a grant to help me obtain a education for a better paying job so I can support my 3 kids and live comfortably?

Jolene we so admire your determination to go to school and get a better job for yourself and your family!

Sounds like you have tried a number of avenues but we're going to give you a few more. There is a lot of help out there and you sound like you have the determination to find it. In some cases it may be what sounds like "welfare" to you but it is there for exactly your type of situation --- to help those who want to help themselves.

Here are a few resources that sound promising:

1) This is a state of Utah site that provides information and assistance for those looking for work, training, and education. You can apply online so you'll know quickly if you may be eligible. The site also provides links to other resources.

2) It sounds like the Pell Grant should be something you would qualify for. You don't have to compete for it and you can find out quickly if you might qualify for a Pell Grant. Finally, you might find some help in this article aobut Grants for Single Moms -- no, most of the assistance does NOT come in the form of grants but that's what a lot of people call any kind of aid.

Don't give up, there is private and government help out there for you. Hang on to that strong attitude!
