I recently had a kidney transplant and dont have money to pay for my wifes visa. Is there any help to pay immigrant processing fees?

I am 47 years old. I was on dialysis for more than a year and just recently had a kidney transplant. I need some help to pay for my wife's visa processing fee and I am not working at this moment. i realy appreciate if some one knows where I can get help.

Fred I'm glad you were able to get a new kidney. Sorry about the difficulties regarding your wife's fees for her visa. I don't know of any grants available for this specific purpose, but here are some things you could try:

- Contact the state department and see if they know of resources for someone in your situation. Be sure they are aware of the fact that you've recently had  kidney transplant.

- If you own your home, is it possible that you could refinance at this time? There are lots of programs regarding home ownership right now.

- Do you have any other family that you (or your wife) could ask for a loan?

- Are you part of a church that might help you out?

- Check out this article with creative ideas about getting more income quickly (and legally!)
