I work on a ranch in Madera, California. We are a rescue ranch for an endangered breed of horses. They are the Colonial Spanish Wilbur-cruce Mission horses. We are wanting to find a grant to set up a hydroponic fodder plant to drastically decrease the cost of feeding all the horses on the property, both resuce and colonial horses. There are over 60 on the property and it costs about $1000 dollars ever five days to feed them and we cant keep it up forever. Are there grants out there I can get to fund this? We need the facility built and all the equipment including seeds. The drought is taking its toll and these horses are endangered.

I've been searching for days but i haven't really found anything and I don't know what to do.

This is a tough one but I have a frew suggestions. If there is any sort of national association for these kinds of horses that would be a good place to start. Also take a look at this article about grants for farms and contact some of the agencies mentioned. There is also an article specific to grants in California which may be helpful. Another angle would be to take your story to a newspaper and see if you can get some publicity and get public support for your efforts.
