This sounds very cool, Scott, thanks for helping to produce more seafood in a responsible way! There are organizations that support this type of effort with financial and other types of assistance. I have a couple recommendations for you to find a grant or low-cost loan.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration offers some programs that give financial and other assistance to projects related to sustainable aquaculture in the U.S. Their Funding Opportunities page describes these further and also lists other funding opportunities. One of them is the Fisheries Finance Program which provides low expense loans. They could be worth checking out!

SARE (Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education) is a non-profit devoted to "Grants and Education to Advance Innovations in Sustainable Agriculture. This does include aquaculture. Their Northeast Region, which covers Maine, offers grants for anywhere from $15,000 to larger projects needing $30,000 to $200,000. Check out the Northeast SARE website and click on the Grants section to learn more.

Hope this helps!
